Dear Parents,

We are so sorry to share that we will not be holding our AASTJ Summer Basketball Camp this year.

We know how much families look forward to this camp each summer—and please know that we did everything we could to make it happen. Unfortunately, despite our repeated efforts to work with Charleston County School District (CCSD) to secure the same location, times, and pricing we’ve had in the past 2 years, we were unable to get a firm commitment.

There is a new person overseeing facility rentals at CCSD this year, and while we’ve maintained regular communication since January, we still have not received final approval on dates or costs. We’ve reached a point where we feel it would be unfair to continue holding out hope and forcing the issue, especially when so many of you need to finalize your children’s summer plans.

This will be only the second time in nearly 30 years that our camp will not take place—the only other time being during the height of COVID. We share in your disappointment and frustration, and we want you to know how hard we tried to avoid this outcome.

We sincerely hope to return next summer and continue the tradition of offering a safe, fun, and meaningful basketball experience for your children. We are so sorry if we’ve let anyone down. Your continued support means everything to us, and we’re grateful to be part of this community.
